NVIDIA is really focusing on creating a highly open AI platform. Being open means that, like UNIX, all the blueprints for its architecture are laid bare for all to see and freely available. Modifications are also permitted under certain conditions. This is truly “open innovation.”

“Open innovation is the foundation of AI progress,” Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia, wrote in the company’s press release. “With Nemotron, we’re transforming advanced AI into an open platform that gives developers the transparency and efficiency they need to build agentic systems at scale.”

Particularly around AI software, many learning processes remain black boxes with unclear aspects. By thoroughly transparentizing these elements too, many engineers can utilize it, and the pace of improvement will accelerate significantly.

Beyond that lies the fusion of robotics and AI, an area they are focusing on. If they can sell robotics and hardware, they can provide the software that runs it for free.

How will President Jensen’s open strategy play out? It will be interesting to see.

特に、AIのソフトウェア周りはブラックボックスな学習過程も多く、よくわからない点があります。そこも含めて徹底的に透明化していけば、多くの技術者が活用可能となり、改良速度もぐっと速くなる。

その先にあるのは、彼らが力を入れるロボティクスとAIの融合です。ロボティクスとハードウェアを売ることができれば、それを動かすソフトウェア周りは無料で提供できますから。
