What exactly are the “entirely new jobs” AI is creating? The Economist, a British business magazine, explored this at the start of the year.

Take the “Forward Deployment Engineer (FDE)”. While the job description itself was anticipated, it’s surprising to see it already has a name!

“The actual work of an FDE combines elements of a developer, consultant, and salesperson. They handle customizing AI tools on-site for clients and getting them up and running.” It’s a job that wouldn’t exist without AI, yet it’s also one only humans can do, demanding exceptional soft skills. Naturally, you can imagine the pay being quite high.

It’s not about being arts or sciences. While leaning strongly toward one side is inevitable, jobs that clearly divide along those lines won’t command high salaries going forward.

実際にAIが生んでいる”全く新しい仕事”とはどういうものか？英国の経済誌エコノミストが、年の初めに考察しています。

例えば”「前方展開型エンジニア（FDE）」”。ジョブディスクリプションとしては以前から想定していましたが、すでに名前がついているとは！

“FDEの実際の仕事は、開発者、コンサルタント、営業担当者を掛け合わせたようなものだ。クライアントのためにAIツールを現場でカスタマイズし、稼働させるところまでを担当する”とあります。まさにAIが誕生しないと生まれなかった仕事ですが、同時に人間にしかできない仕事であり、抜群のソフトスキルを要求される職種。当然、給与がかなり高くなるのは想像できるでしょう。

文系か理系か、じゃないんですよね。どちらかの傾向が強いのは仕方ないとしても、それを明確に分けるタイプの職種は、今後は高い給料を稼がなくなります。
