Well, that was to be expected… Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, gave a keynote speech in Washington, D.C., the political heart of the United States?a rare occurrence for him. Going beyond a typical press conference, he discussed the kind of world Nvidia aims to build using AI technology.
It’s essentially a vision of embedding AI technology into every corner of daily life. Right now, many people are still just playing around with prompts for generative AI. But for AI to truly permeate society, it needs to merge with robotics. And that process has already begun.
Starting with integration into smartphones, this enables more stable communication and improvements at the software level… like deleting unwanted calls or emails before we even notice them.
Another major point is that “Nvidia plans to help build 100,000 self-driving cars in partnership with Uber starting in 2027 using Nvidia’s chips and the ‘DriveOS’ autonomous vehicle operating system, so more people around the country can get rides from robo taxis.” In other words, by embedding AI into the vehicles themselves alongside ride-sharing, autonomous driving can be made into a more sophisticated operation. In Japan, where you see many elderly drivers operating precariously in regional cities, this is absolutely essential technology.
Playing around with generative AI or freaking out about it is fine, but beyond that lies the potential for massive global transformation and explosive job creation, much like Henry Ford did with early automobiles.
まあそうなるやろな…。NvidiaのCEOであるJensen Huangが、珍しくアメリカ合衆国の政治の町ワシントンDCで基調講演をしました。従来の記者会見よりさらに踏み込んで、NVIDIAがAI技術を使って今後どのような世界を築いていくかについて語っています。
とにかく生活の隅々にまでAI技術を放り込むというビジョンですね。今はまだ多くの人が生成AI のプロンプトで遊んでるところ。でも本当にAIが社会に浸透するには、ロボティクスと合体する必要があります。そして、それはすでに始まっている。
スマホの中に入り込むところから、より安定的な通信やソフトウェアレベルでの向上…例えば 迷惑電話やメールをこちらが気づく前に削除するなど…が可能となる。
あと大きいのは、「Nvidia plans to help build 100,000 self-driving cars in partnership with Uber staring in 2027 using Nvidia’s chips and “DriveOS” autonomous vehicle operating system so more people around the country can get rides from robo taxis」という点。つまりライドシェアに付随して、車体にAIを埋め込むことで自動運転をより精緻なオペレーションにする。危なっかしい高齢者の運転を、多くの地方都市で見かける日本においては、絶対的に必要な技術ですよね。
生成系AIで遊んだり、ビビったりするのも結構ですけど、その先にこそヘンリーフォードが初期の自動車でやったような、大きな世界の変革と雇用の爆発的な創出が見えます。
